The history of BAIDAL PLASTIC S.L. dates back to 1974, the year in which Francisco Baidal Serralta started a business buying and selling recycled plastic material, at a time of great industrial growth both in the Foia de Castalla with the rise of the toy industry, and in Spain in general, with a great expansion in the plastics industry, both in injection, blow molding, thermoforming and extrusion processes, processes that were adopted and improved by countless industries throughout Spain, and very importantly in the province of Alicante.
Having worked as a production manager in a plastics industry, and therefore already with experience in the sector, Francisco Baidal Serralta successfully developed a business of buying and selling post-industrial recycled plastic for 40 years. Until December 2014, when he retired.

Francisco Baidal Espí (second generation) continues the business.
It was in January 2015 when Francisco Baidal Espí (second generation) decided to continue the family business of buying and selling recycled plastic, putting into value all the experience accumulated over 40 years and counting on the invaluable advice and know-how of Francisco Baidal Serralta, which was very important to face the new and demanding times of the recycling market, to which, on the other hand, it was undoubtedly necessary to adapt.

Professionalization of business activity, culminating in the creation of the company BAIDAL PLASTIC S.L.
In October 2016, after analyzing the real possibilities for growth of the company within the recycling sector, the professionalization of the business activity took place, culminating in the creation of the company BAIDAL PLASTIC S.L. on October 27, 2016. This will be followed by quality certifications and implementations in the following years, which will allow the company to equip itself with the necessary tools to make its way in the demanding European recycling landscape. The company becomes a producer of recycled raw materials, while also being an official waste manager (scrap collector).

Production activity begins in an industrial building in Castalla.
In January 2017, the company began its production activity in its first industrial building in Castalla, incorporating a production line, which together with the management of post-industrial plastic forms the basis of what will be the company’s production activity. In parallel, the opening to new markets begins and the first steps in internationalization are taken, with the start of export activity of recycled raw materials to member countries of the European Union during 2018.

New production line.
A new investment is made in fixed assets, expanding with a new production line, and renewing the machinery elements for transport of the company, both for external logistics and internally. At the same time, the storage area is being expanded by adding an adjacent building, effectively doubling the production and stock space.
This same year, the company consolidated its international expansion, supported by ICEX Spain Export and Investment, maintaining its existing markets and simultaneously opening new ones. This prepares BAIDAL PLASTIC to maintain its production activity uninterrupted in what will be a challenging year like 2020.

Constant growth.
Since its creation, BAIDAL PLASTIC’s production and plastic waste management activity has remained in constant growth over the years, even despite a global pandemic in 2020, thanks to actions taken prior to the pandemic, both in terms of internationalization and internal management.

EUCERPLAST European Certification.
In this way, and through the management’s business vision, a quality result is achieved that has been maintained over time, further confirmed by obtaining various European certifications, such as the European EUCERPLAST certification, which ensures traceability throughout the recycling process, and recognizes BAIDAL PLASTIC as one of the few Spanish companies in 2021 to obtain this certification.

Relocation of the production plant to new facilities.
Another important milestone in the company’s history is reached with the relocation of the production plant to new facilities located in Castalla (Alicante), facilities that almost triple the previous production and storage area. The new facilities also include improvements to the loading and unloading facilities, as well as the area designated for offices and common areas, areas that will allow for greater possibilities to provide the company with other departments in the future, which are already among the company’s medium-term projects. Of course, along with the expansion of the facilities, the company acquires new machinery that again manages to double the company’s production capacity, and make the internal management processes more efficient, and therefore the process of recovering plastic material.
In parallel, in 2024 BAIDAL PLASTIC achieved the important European RECYCLASS certification, a seal endorsed by the European entity PRS (PLASTIC RECYCLING EUROPE, Brussels), and which is aligned with the EN 15343:2007 standard, equivalent to the UNE EN 15343:200 standard, which is also necessary at the Spanish level due to the tax on plastics.
During 2024, the company’s internationalization project continues to be consolidated, with the opening of new markets in ASIA.

Circular economy and plastic recycling.
Currently, BAIDAL PLASTIC has a new production plant, opened in 2024, and a team of people and machinery specifically qualified for the management and recycling of plastics, and continues its expansion, exceeding the set objectives, with certified and guaranteed materials. At the same time, BAIDAL PLASTIC is contributing to the circular economy and plastic recycling.
This year, BAIDAL PLASTIC’s presence at several trade fairs (ARABPLAST, PRSE AMSTERDAM, etc.) continues to demonstrate its international commitment.
In terms of certifications, in addition to those already obtained, the company is approaching 2025 with the certification process and audit under ISO 9001:2015 and Order TED 646/2023, both required in Spain for BAIDAL PLASTIC’s certification as a producer of recycled plastic raw materials.
